Kamala’s 107 Days — A Moment of Greatness (and Resistance)
The internal forces that shaped and strained a barrier-breaking campaign in American politics
I’ve been speaking out about my experience with the DNC during the Biden-Harris and Harris-Walz campaigns since the day the election was called.
I haven’t written fully about my experience because there’s just so much to unpack — too much for one single piece. Maybe it’s better told aloud. But I’m incredibly grateful that Kamala Harris is releasing this book.
Everything I’ve continued to speak out about — the horrific and often devious treatment I, and many of my Black and Brown colleagues, endured — the racism I faced from members of my own team — and the stories from colleagues across the country who were actively held back from doing their jobs — I personally believe it was sabotage.
I believe some of this will be validated in her book — it seems she endured similar treatment from people within her own inner circle, at the very top.
If that turns out to be the case, it’s deeply sad — and even more tragic that I had no idea she was going through the same thing. From what I’ve read so far, it sounds like she was possibly navigating the same toxic dynamics — just magnified by her position.
On the staff level, they siloed us. They kept many of us silent, threatening retribution if we spoke out.
Clearly, I don’t give a fuck.
I’ve been speaking out, and I’m not stopping — not in a democratic emergency, and not in a political climate this dangerous. We need leaders who will actually speak the hell up.
I’ve said this since the moment the election was called: the DNC — and the establishment as a whole — has some serious work to do. If they don’t acknowledge their wrongdoings, they’ll end up burning the entire party to the ground.
And they’re doing an amazing job of that already.
