Walter and I sat down with Andrew Rice, and honestly, it was the breath of fresh air I think we all needed.
Andrew is running for Congress in Connecticut’s 3rd District against a 35-year incumbent. He’s a candidate who is not afraid to “tell it like it is” — a Democratic Socialist, who is over the “Vote Blue No Matter Who” lectures. He’s calling the system out for what it is: a corporate-owned machine that ignores the working class while funding genocide and protecting predators.
What Andrew Stands For:
Ending Billionaire Welfare: Andrew’s point is simple: stop giving away our money to Big Oil, Big Pharma, and billionaires like Elon Musk. Close the loopholes and stop the subsidies — that’s our healthcare and housing money right there.
Economic Bill of Rights: He’s looking to finish what FDR started—guaranteeing that every American has a roof over their head and a living wage.
Abolishing ICE: Andrew isn’t afraid to call for the total abolition of ICE and real accountability for the racism on which the institution was built.
Hard Justice & Accountability: This was a huge part of our talk. From calling out the “redacted Epstein files” vibe of US history, to demanding a DNA database for politicians and law enforcement to clear the rape kit backlog—Andrew wants the predators out of policy-making.
Funding the Future, Not Bombs: We’re looking at a $1 trillion+ defense budget while our schools are starving. Andrew wants to fully fund the IDEA program for special education and stop the “imperial war spending” that siphons life out of our communities.
How You Can Help:
Primary Day: If you’re in CT-03, the primary is August 11th. Voters will need to make sure they’re registered as Democrats by July 24th (online or by mail). “Unaffiliated” voters will need to switch their registration to the Democratic Party by May 11th to be eligible.
